Happy New Year and welcome to January’s blog. Phuket is the number # 1 destination for adventure and outdoor activities in Thailand. There is a great blend of extreme and chilled pursuits for the ultimate tropical break.

To get your heart rate up you can try jetboating, parascending, zipline, bungy jumping, kiteboarding, surfing, motorcross, zorbing, diving, wakeboarding, go karting, 4×4 driving, shooting, rock climbing and big game fishing to name a few.

Jet boating

This is the ultimate, crazy experience on water! The 20 minute thrill ride is safe for the whole family (minimum height of 1m tall) and includes 360° spins, sharp turns, and incredible acceleration. Zipline adventure

Next up is something we all must do in our lifetimes. Phuket has some awesome zip lines. Trust me, this is a rush! Take a rest from Phuket’s beaches and check out Jungle Xtrem Adventures Park. Climb and zip line the treetops, whilst negotiating swinging walkways, rope bridges and web-like nets. Bungy Jump

Finally let’s look at the long established Phuket bungy jump, only twenty minutes from buzzing Patong. Prepare to jump from 165 ft. above a natural lagoon, surrounded by dark green jungle. Wakeboarding

There are 3 fixed line wakeboarding lakes in Phuket. The Anthem Wakepark in Thalang towards the North of Phuket. Phuket WakePark in Kathu central Phuket 20 mins from Patong. If your up near the airport then you can easily visit International Wake Park the complex has a flowrider. Being an island its always possible to find flat sea. Surfing

Phuket has some small surf from May to September. For that “on the wave” feeling there is a flowrider in Kata and Patong at the Phuket Surf House. A cool place to hang out.

Go Karting

There are 2 Go Kart tracks. Go Kart Phuket in Kathu next to the Tiger Kingdom and Phuket Kart Speedway who offer the full range of karts, from beginners to advanced in Chalong on the way to Kata beach.

It has to be said that this is a small selection of the activities that can be found on this beautiful tropical island; it’s the place for the A-Z of extreme activities. There are many ATV centers with quadbikes to blast through the Jungle. Other activities include big game fishing at Phuket Fishing Park, motorcross, diving, rock climbing, shooting oh and zorbing. Fireworks on Patong Beach Thailand – Wyoosumran

So it is that time of the year again when the question on everyone’s lips is: “Where to go for the best parties?” Luckily, there is no shortage of good New Year’s parties in Phuket. In fact, the problem is there are so many, you may end up having a hard time to choose!

In Patong, you can expect the most activities such as beach parties and organised music events. This popular destination is guaranteed to have something for every party reveller and it is just a short walk away from our school. Roads will be blocked off and there will be a live music festival with a floating stage starting the day before.

If you are planning to have dinner at well-known restaurants or clubs, like Café Del Mar or Paradise Beach Club it is highly recommended that you make a reservation in advance, to avoid standing in long queues. Further north, Layan beach offers a more relaxed atmosphere where you can bring your own picnic baskets and watch the fireworks and floating lanterns. Although there will be no organised music events, the atmosphere is still very festive.

What better way to enjoy the amazing fireworks that the island has to offer than from a rooftop venue. Vanilla Sky @ Cape Sienna, Heaven near Kata, or 360 at Phuket are just a few of the possible bars. But do make a reservation to avoid disappointment. Another spectacular way to have a birds-eye view of the fireworks is from the Big Buddha in Chalong. However, please remember to dress appropriately in should you wish to visit this famous Phuket landmark.

If you prefer to boogie the night away, you are in luck because Phuket has a lot hot clubs to visit. Illuzion and The White Room, both located in Patong, are two of the most popular clubs in town. What to do in Patong & Phuket 2018 November

Patong Carnival, Colour Fun Run, Laguna Triathlon & New Central

While an ED visa is the ultimate ticket to learn Thai or another language in Thailand, “all study and no play sure makes Jack a dull boy”. It is time to put away those books and pencils, and head out to explore what Phuket has in store for November.

Carnival anybody? Yes, that’s right! Patong Beach will host the annual Phuket Carnival from 1 – 5 November 2018, complete with parades, live entertainment and scrumptious food. As an added bonus, world class DJ Tiesto will also be spinning the decks at Illuzion on the 3^rd! Fancy something sportier? You are in luck, because there are 3 events coming up. First is the Open Swim League on the 3^rd of November. Following that is the Colour Fun Run which takes on the 10^th – 11^th of November, and you can register at http://phukethon.com/en/registration/. Both events will be held at Thanyapura in Thalang. Lastly you can join the LPT Charity Fun Run on the 17^th and 18^th, which celebrates the 25^th anniversary of the Phuket Laguna Triathlon. It takes place at Laguna and some of the proceeds will go to the Children First Fund charity.

Prefer something more authentic from the Land of Smiles to float your boat, err… basket? The annual Loy Krathong festival is scheduled for the 23^rd of November at Saphan Hin, where you can make a traditionally decorated basket or krathong, which will later be floated on the water under the full moon.

In the mood for helping to keep Phuket clean and plastic free? Of course, no outing would be complete without a proper dose of shopping. Central Phuket, sister mall to Central Festival, recently opened its doors to the public as the first tourist destination mall, and boast an array of attractions like Floresta, Tribhum, Aquaria. Food is the Word & Vegetarian Festival Phuket

October is the time in Phuket when the monsoon gradually subsides, and frequent sunny days return to the island. The vendors who packed away their goods for low season, slowly emerge and start to prepare for tourist season. Yet, it is a great time to be in Phuket and here is why:

First up is the Oktoberfest that runs from late September to the 7^th of October. Beer of all sorts and flavours can be enjoyed at establishments like Naughty Nuri’s in Patong, or join the fun, food, music and beer at the German Festival at Boat Lagoon in Thalang on Saturday the 6^th. After all that beer and indulgence, it’s time to sober up and dig into your salad! The island hosts the annual Vegetarian Festival from 8 – 17 October, which boils down to 10 days of #Meat-free-Mondays in a row. In the past, the festival, which cultivate a healthy body mind and spirit through abstinence from meat, was mostly celebrated by the Chinese community, but the tradition has been adopted by many a Phuketian, as well as visitors from all over South-East Asia who flock to the event.

You can also witness incredible ceremonies like fire-walking, body-piercing and other forms of body mutilation, which is all part of the tradition to appease the Nine Emperor Gods. Street processions and parades are also part of the festival, which will take place at 6 Chinese temples around Phuket.
